Officials from the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal are asking business owners to place carbon monoxide alarms next to generators in their stores.

This request comes after emerging reports of individuals requiring hospitalization for carbon monoxide poisoning in the wake of Hurricane Ida.

SFM officials suggest that business owners place carbon monoxide alarms next to generators on sale or place them in a visible area of the store, such as the checkout counter.
