COVID best practices, managed services, and working smarter and more efficiently by utilizing technology all contributed to Vector being named an SSI 2021 Installer of the Year runner-up.

Vector Security is in the process of launching its new mission statement, “We will grow our leading position by delivering an exceptional experience to our customers and teams at every step in their journey with us.” The Warrendale, Pa.-based integrator embodied this statement throughout 2020.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the company created best practices for all field and office employees, dealers, and subcontractors to help keep everyone safe. It also developed a “pandemic continuity plan” for safety and health based on the latest CDC guidelines.

“The purpose of the plan is to preserve the ongoing operation of essential business activities during a pandemic situation like the COVID-19 outbreak,” explains Art Miller, vice president of marketing. “Vector Security is committed to ensuring that our company can continue all aspects of our critical business processes during a pandemic and can safely resume normal operations as quickly as possible afterwards.”

The pandemic also resulted in Vector developing new products and services to offer its customers. These include virtual consultations, a self-install starter package that includes support via a virtual technician, the “FamilyKIT” smart camera, solutions to help businesses meet the challenges of returning to a “new normal” and a K-12 campaign to help public schools make the most of emergency funding beyond the purchasing of PPE. Additionally, the company implemented a 3G self-install radio upgrade campaign for qualifying customers.

Its Vector Security Networks division introduced a managed network services bundle that combines secure networking equipment, broadband Internet, professional installation and managed services into a single-source solution.

Vector has also made moves to work smarter and more efficiently by utilizing technology. Most notably, by launching a new workflow management system for its national accounts division. Its dealer portal streamlines and automates formerly paper-based and manual processes, says President and CEO Pam Petrow, a member of SSI’s Industry Hall of Fame.

“We continue to write programs that allow for data transfer between systems to eliminate duplication of data entry,” she notes. “We are also implementing technology to reach our customers via text, email and auto notification. Recent programs have reduced our level of activity with a specific customer by over 50% providing better service to the customer and reducing our labor effort.”
