An Oklahoma City police officer surprised a single mother and her children with toys, after their Christmas presents were stolen in a home burglary just before Christmas.

According to police, Sgt. Laguerre responded to a home burglary report Monday in the Lyrewood addition. The victim is a single mother with two young children.

According to police, Walmart had donated a large quantity of toys to the Police Department for situations like this. Laguerre delivered some of toys to the victims’ home on Christmas Eve.

“He led the victim to believe he was returning to do some follow-up investigation. Upon arriving he surprised the victim and her kids with the toys,” police said in a Facebook post.

Laguerre said the victim was speechless. He stayed while the children opened presents.

“This is what connects us with the communities we serve,” Laguerre said, and he described his experience as the best Christmas gift he could have received, according to the department’s Facebook post.

On December 23rd, Sgt. Laguerre of OKCPD responded to a home burglary call in the Lyrewood addition. The victim was a single mother with two young kids. The burglars stole all the kids’ Christmas presents. The victim was devastated, as she had saved all year long to buy presents for her kids.
