10.19.23 – Baton Rouge Business Report

About 71,000 Louisiana workers quit their jobs in August, an increase of about 13,000 from the prior month, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

That rate of the increase tied for the second highest in the nation with Nebraska and behind North Dakota. The number of quits increased in 10 states, decreased in four and was basically unchanged in the rest, according to BLS.

Through August, about 535,000 workers left their jobs, which is a 6.6% increase compared to the same point last year.

The number of total separations–voluntary or not–was about 99,000 in Louisiana. The 13,000 increase was the third highest among states behind Illinois and Minnesota.
