4.2.21 – SSI – ATLANTA

John Loud explains the concerted efforts by industry stakeholders in helping defeat the spread of a punitive alarm ordinance across the state.

The Georgia General Assembly handed the alarm industry a big win on Wednesday when the Senate gave its approval to House Bill 465, which nullifies jurisdictions’ ability to levy fines against alarm companies for false alarms caused by end users.

Gov. Brian Kemp is expected to sign the bill into law within the month. An immense amount of heavy lifting was undertaken by the alarm industry at the state and national level in getting the bill drafted and ultimately shepherded to the General Assembly floor to be voted upon.

John Loud, president and founder of Kennesaw, Ga.-based LOUD Security, joins SSI Senior Editor Rodney Bosch to discuss these many-layered efforts. You’ll also want to hear Loud explain why what has just occurred in Georgia is a call to action for alarm professionals across the nation.
