How did a burglary go wrong at a Detroit car dealership? Well, in many ways, actually. A lot went wrong for the set of thieves here.

Believe it or not, there are some unspoken rules for pulling off a burglary. You’re going to want to be quiet. That’s important. You want to be sneaky and not let anyone know what you’re up to. Additionally, you want to have a smooth getaway planned. That’s just as important as the robbery itself. No smooth getaway, no executed robbery. Finally, you’re going to want to leave with all the people you came with. That’s super important. No man left behind. One person left behind could mean the end for everybody. Unfortunately (for them), all of these things went wrong for these burglars at a Detroit car dealership.

Burglary Goes Wrong At A Detroit Car Dealership

These thieves didn’t follow those unspoken rules we talked about earlier. Not at all. Instead, they made a ton of noise (not what you’re supposed to do). They even crashed their truck into a pole. However, that’s not all. They also lost a man and a gun during their getaway. Surely, not what they wanted to happen.

You can see a video report on the incident shared by Click On Detroit on YouTube below. Doesn’t seem like they’re the brightest or most experienced criminals around. What do you think?

According to Click On Detroit, the men even got into an argument during their robbery. Again, not what you’re supposed to do! You can wait for that. Arguing right then and there can’t be the best idea. The incident reportedly happened at Giovanni’s Auto Sales on Tireman Avenue in Detroit. The whole thing was captured at camera, but the 3 suspects do remain at large.

It’s a surprise that they’re still at large given how they seem to have botched the robbery in many ways. Their loud entry certainly was not the best way to start. They immediately backed into a cement pole outside of the gates. Then it took them a minute to cut through the iron gate. Guards were on scene and alerted the owner to what was happening and they were advised not to take action so nobody would get hurt. It appears that the men were there for converters from the cars that they could then sell for scrap. When the group started arguing, one of the guards shouted, “what are you doing?” per Click On Detroit. That sent them panicking into their truck where they attempted to get away but one of the three men fell out of the car and almost got run over! Then, one of them dropped a gun in the middle of the street so they had to return later to pick it up. Not smooth.

Hopefully law enforcement is able to find the 3 suspects soon.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
