HB1466 is headed to the Governor’s desk.
This Bill allows the Texas Fire Marshal to require CEU credits. NESA , TBFAA and affiliates would be able to offer CEU credits if the Texas Fire Marshal adopts the requirement in Administrative rules.

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED | |
AN ACT | |
relating to the regulation of certain continuing education | |
programs. | |
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
SECTION 1. Section 6002.159, Insurance Code, is amended by | |
amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (c) to read as | |
follows: | |
(b) The commissioner may not adopt a rule that excludes or | |
devalues a signed or otherwise substantially verifiable | |
certificate of training that is: | |
(1) applicable to the areas of work authorized by the | |
relevant license; and | |
(2) issued by a training program or school that is: | |
(A) nationally recognized; or | |
(B) authorized under the Occupations Code or | |
Education Code. | |
(c) The commissioner may not adopt a rule that requires more | |
than eight hours of [ | |
any license renewal period [ | |
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
