A crook who thought Easter Sunday would be a good time to burglarize a Boardman store that does a lot of business before the holiday appears to have walked away empty-handed.

Township Police are investigating after someone smashed the front door window of Honeybaked Ham on Boardman Poland Road at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday and searched the cash register drawers, which according to a police report were already empty.

Police say security video shows the masked burglar also had no luck prying the store’s safe open.

Four minutes after entering the store, the would-be thief left through the back door, jumping into the passenger seat of a dark-colored Honda with fictitious license plates.

Police in the area have been given a description of the car and the suspect and are on the lookout.
