The ALERT system allows for immediate communication with police departments, giving law enforcement real-time access to surveillance cameras, security systems and more.
The Coconut Creek Police Department recently hosted a special online demonstration of the ALERT (Active Law Enforcement Response Technology) software solution software developed by IntraLogic Solutions.
The program focused on how this state-of-the-art safety technology and software could make Coconut Creek businesses and the entire community safer, according to an announcement.
During an emergency, the ALERT system allows for immediate communication with police departments, giving law enforcement real-time access to surveillance cameras, security systems and more at a business, house of worship, school or government location who are part of the ALERT system.
The program was led by Coconut Creek Chief of Police Albert Arenal, Lieutenant Scott Slavin and Lee Mandel, CEO of IntraLogic Solutions. The event was made possible with the support of Coconut Creek City Manager Karen M. Brooks and the City of Coconut Creek.
“Coconut Creek is a safe community and we are proud of this. However, we must be vigilant and focus on keeping businesses and our community safe. We know that emergencies will happen and we need to leverage all tools available. Business owners and operators needed to know that this technology is easy to install and activate during emergencies,” says Arenal. “The ALERT technology allows us to have critical information quickly. This gives us greater situational awareness and reduces response times dramatically. Saving time saves lives. Our goal is to have all our local businesses, event venues, schools and government buildings connected with us.”
During emergencies, the ALERT software immediately connects with cameras, giving police live feeds. Building security systems may be accessed and controlled. Police are given floor plans and maps, control of electronic door locks and access control systems as well as PA systems.
This technology was said to have been originally developed for schools, but is now available for businesses and triggered during any emergency from fires and break-ins, to health emergencies and even active shooter situations.
“With this technology, it is possible in a short period of time for Coconut Creek to be among the safest communities in the United States. The key is to have wide adoption of this technology and for businesses, schools and event venues to partner with the Coconut Creek Police Department,” adds Mandel.
In 2020, School Safety Grant awarded the Coconut Creek Police Department one of the first of its grants in the nation. The Coconut Creek Police Department has completed the installation of the ALERT system and is ready to connect to businesses, houses of worship, schools and event venues.
The Coconut Creek Police Department says it encourages all businesses, houses of worship, schools and event venues to learn more and apply for a School Safety Grant. Nearby police departments are also said to be in the process of integrating the ALERT technology with School Safety Grant as well.
