Eileen P. Skidmore is retiring on June 30, 2020 as the False Alarm Reduction Coordinator for the Howard County Department of Police.

Eileen has been a long term active FARA member who helped to form and coordinate the Mid Atlantic Chapter.

Here are two comments about Eileen from FARA Leaders

“It’s hard to put into words how much of an impact she had on FARA and me personally.  I still remember the first time she talked to me.  I could tell by her relationship with her then Sgt. Mark & Steve, that this must be a good group of people.  I’m glad Shelley sent that email out inviting me to come to the meeting which I believe may have been at Howard County FARU.  I’ve met some pretty amazing people.

Eileen is a one of a kind human.  She’s soft spoken, kind hearted, fair minded, respectful and passionate about her job.  I’ve never heard her complain…ever!  And she has a way of focusing on the positives which I really admire.  One of the best examples of recent partnership in true false alarm reduction between public safety and industry came from none other than Eileen.  She illustrated this partnership by inviting PNC Security manager to speak at one of our chapter meetings in Montgomery County FARU.  Over the years, they worked together and reduced false alarms tremendously.  She engaged the appropriate contact and because of this, have maintained a professional working relationship with this entity.  She will be dearly missed!”

Meredith Wivell

“Eileen is, definitely, one of the kindest people I know. She’s soft spoken, kind hearted, fair minded, respectful and passionate. (I borrowed Meredith’s sentence) This carries over in her job and her personal life. When I first took over Montgomery County, she was one of the first people to make me feel at home. As you all know, all I kept hearing from day one was that I had huge shoes to fill. Coming in, that was always hard to hear and messed with my self-confidence. Eileen was one of the people that told me I would do fine and that I didn’t need to think about being someone’s shadow. I agree with Meredith, I’ve never heard her complain about anything.

Eileen is a positive soul. She is one of those people that you  wish you knew your entire life. She makes you feel right at home no matter what. She is always willing to lend a helping hand and deeply understands the needs of the false alarm units across the country. Her wealth of knowledge will be missed!”
