Police said a burglar who stole a video game console called the victim’s brother for a ride to a store where he sold the stolen merchandise.

Dustin Bacon is jailed on $25,000 bond for burglary.

Police first made contact with Bacon on April 19, 2024, when they responded to a suspicious person in the 1600 block of Best, where residents said he was going into backyards and stealing items.

Police said they located Bacon and he told them he knew the people whose backyards he was going into.

While in the area, police said a resident told them that Bacon had been in her backyard and she had confronted him. She said her house had been burglarized the day before, and a Nintendo Switch game system was taken.

She also said Bacon texted her brother asking for a ride to the game store so he could sell a Nintendo Switch console.

Police said the store manager provided a receipt for the purchase of the victim’s system, which showed Dustin Bacon as the seller.

Bacon has prior arrests for credit card abuse, theft, criminal trespass and injury to an elderly person.

In March 2023, he was arrested after police said he stole or attempted to steal three flat-screen TVs in four days from Walmart on Lawrence Road and assaulted an 81-year-old female employee who asked to see his receipt.
