An employee reported hearing strange noises and called police

Officers were at a mobile phone store in the 4600-block of No. 3 Road shortly after 11 p.m. on Saturday after an employee reported hearing strange noises on the premises.

As police searched the store, a person who appeared to have been hiding in the ceiling fell through to the ground in front of them. The 50-year-old woman wasn’t seriously injured and declined to seek medical help, said police. Multiple cellular SIM cards were found in her possession and recovered.

The Vancouver woman, who was known to police, was arrested.

“Even though the gift-giving season is eight months away, we definitely appreciate the gift from above, so to speak” quipped Richmond RCMP spokesman Cpl. Dennis Hwang.

The investigation continues.
