Asheville Police adopt new program aiming to decrease false alarms; civil penalties begin

Police say this unnecessarily drains police resources.

“The idea is this is a program to reduce false alarms and help people become more aware of how their alarm works,” said Dan Lemley, APD administrative service manager.

This program requires Asheville residents and businesses to register their alarm systems, which can be done at Asheville Police Department’s website HERE.

There are now civil penalties for false alarms in Asheville.
