7.16.19 – SAN ANGELO, TX

The San Angelo Police Department is advising the citizens of San Angelo of an out-of-town security alarm sales group who are in town selling their services door-to-door. The same group was here last year and there were several complaints from local citizens – everything from high-pressure sales tactics to their representatives claiming to be doing upgrades for local security alarm companies.

The Texas Department of Public Safety Security requires out-of-town companies to check in with the Texas municipality they plan to sell in. They are also required to have on their person (at all times) their DPS Security License.

If the salesperson has their DPS Security License, they have fingerprints on file with the TX DPS Security Bureau along with a background check on that person.

The SAPD makes every attempt to work with the alarm companies in order to verify each sales person’s credentials. The SAPD Records Division again checks the sales person’s criminal history and state-issued security license.

ALWAYS ASK TO SEE THE SALES PERSONS TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY SECURITY LICENSE.

If you in any way doubt the credibility of the alarm sales person’s license, feel threatened or intimidated by his or her actions, DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT THE SAN ANGELO POLICE DEPARTMENT at 325-657-4498 during normal business hours. After 5:00 p.m., contact the non-emergency line to dispatch at 657-4315.

If you want to find out if a company has checked in with SAPD, you can call the alarm coordinator at 325-657-4304 Monday through Friday 8-5
