The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to be aware of individuals who may be posing as home security system installers, but are not authorized employees of such businesses.

A Cee Cee Lane resident called deputies to her Eutawville home on Thursday afternoon to report that she’d let a man inside of her home who claimed to be an employee of a home security business.

She told deputies she and her husband had been expecting new equipment from a home security company.

The man asked the woman for their names, birthdays and Social Security numbers.

She told deputies that the man exited the home to go to his vehicle.

She then called the home security business and the company told her they’d not sent a technician to her home.

The man was wearing a blue polo shirt and khaki pants with a low haircut.

If anyone has any information or has been contacted by an individual posing as an ADT employee, they should contact the sheriff’s office at 803-534-3550 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
