Bizarre bodycam footage from a sheriff’s office in Washington State shows officers arresting a man who allegedly stole his ex-girlfriend’s pet chicken. The weird incident reportedly occurred on March 29th when cops in the community of Port Orchard received a call about the curious case. According to the woman who phoned the police, her unnamed former boyfriend burst into her home and shouted “I’ve got Polly,” her pet chicken, before fleeing the scene with the beloved bird in tow. Cops eventually found the man hiding in a forested area with the pilfered animal still in his possession, leading to a rather tense standoff between the suspect and police.

“Don’t hurt my chicken,” the distraught man exclaimed as an officer approached him with his firearm drawn. After assuring him that no harm would come to the bird, cops managed to coax the now-weeping suspect out of the woods toward their waiting cruiser, where Polly was placed for safekeeping. Once the bird was secured, the man was arrested and charged with burglary and violating a protection order. Oddly enough, it was later learned that the suspect had actually run afoul of the law earlier in the day for a different incident and he had only been released from police custody a few hours before the chicken caper that landed him behind bars yet again.
