A Utah security company is on the hook for $500,000 after allegedly scamming Kansas customers.
The Kansas Attorney General’s Office says Vivint stood accused of using deceptive tactics to pressure Kansas consumers into long-term contracts for its services. The company agreed to a judgment in the Shawnee County Court District to pay $500,000 to the state of Kansas and change its practices to settle the matter.
“Protecting Kansas consumers is our highest priority,” Assistant Attorney General Sarah Dietz said. “Door-to-door transactions are an easy way for suppliers to take advantage of consumers through high-pressure sales tactics. We encourage every consumer solicited through a door-to-door transaction of any kind to thoroughly read and take the time to understand the contract before signing.”
