  • Huge federal study casts doubt on expansive use of facial recognition in criminal investigations, cellphone security
    12.19.19 – Washington Post – The study by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, which develops standards for new technology, found in the worst cases, Asian and African American people were up to 100 times more likely to be misidentified than white men. American Indians were most likely to be misidentified.
  • New Illinois laws go into effect in 2020
    12.21.19 – WSILTV – Starting January 1, 2020, more than 250 new laws will go into effect across Illinois, including some that may put a dent in your wallet. Changes to another law aims to help pets that haven’t found permanent homes. Lawmakers modified the Animal Welfare Act so that dog or cat kennels are required to install a fire alarm system to buildings that aren’t occupied at all times.
