Costs rise for false alarm calls, garbage, dump fees, taxi rides

A new fine is in effect for false alarm calls passed by council upon recommendation from the Police Services Board. A verbal warning follows the first response to a false alarm. The fine for a second response in the calendar year is $100; third response is $200 and fourth $400.

Joyce M. Hausler has Passed Away

Joyce M. Hausler, 70, passed away in Midlothian, VA on December 29, 2022. She spent 40 years in the alarm monitoring business and was active in crime prevention, law enforcement and community organizations.

Atlanta police say they have a peculiar case on their hands. An accused burglar was caught on a surveillance camera singing his heart out before breaking into a stranger’s home, stealing several items.
